We are seeking a Flight Software Subgroup Lead to join our Budapest office and strengthen our team.
As the subgroup lead, you will be responsible for the operational coordination and management of a flight software team (responsible for space applications software development).
Flight Software Sub-Group Leader
Key responsibilities

Maintain close coordination with the Project Manager on all relevant projects.

Build and maintain a backlog based on the required project work.

Manage (coordinate and prioritize) daily tasks across multiple engineers.

Facilitate the allocation of resources as needed to address changing priorities or risks.

Identify skill gaps and initiate actions to address them (training, mentoring, or hiring input).

Support with technical leadership all software life cycle functions, including requirements, architecture, design, code, test, integration, documentation, and support.

Build a strong engineering culture focused on ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Encourage knowledge-sharing and competence building across the team.

Shape and develop software development processes, methods and tools.

Maintain contact with international space agencies.

Follow the ECSS standard during the development process.

Utilize tools such as Polarion, JIRA, MISRA (LDRA), GitLab.
Requirements
-
BSc or MSc degree in Computer Science or Electrical/Electronics Engineering.

5+ years of experience in software development (preferably embedded software).

3+ years of experience in technical leadership and team coordination.

Proven ability to lead, motivate, and grow an engineering team in a structured environment.

Experience with release-driven development and milestone-based project execution.

Ability to anticipate issues, take initiative, and drive improvements without waiting for direction.

Strong interpersonal skills with high emotional intelligence.

Ability to think at system-level and work across multiple disciplines.

Good problem-solving skills.

Proficiency in English.
Considered a Plus

Experience working in Agile environments, including hands-on experience with Scrum methodologies.

Knowledge of ISO and/or ECSS standards.

5+ years of experience in embedded software development.

Knowledge of C/C++ programming.

Experience in hands-on development and troubleshooting on embedded targets.

Experience with ARM or RISC-V MCUs and/or microprocessors.

Any experience in FPGA and hardware development.
