Group Leader – System Engineering Specialist Group
Key responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and develop a specialized System Engineering team (eg.: Control Engineers, Physicists, Cybersecurity Engineers, Verification Engineers, and Safety Experts).

Build a strong and collaborative team culture across different specialist fields, while supporting individual development and competency growth.

Manage team capacity, workload, and resource allocation in line with project and organizational priorities.

Contribute to recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and succession planning for the group.

Support organizational growth by defining competency development paths, training needs, and team expansion plans.

Coordinate the contribution of specialized engineering disciplines to project execution across all development phases, from concept and design to verification, qualification, and delivery.

Drive alignment and effective collaboration between the specialized engineering group and Mission/System Engineering, Project Management, Product Assurance, and technical departments.

Support the development of internal guidelines, best practices, lessons learned, and technical governance within the specialized domains.

Ensure the establishment of specialized knowledge bases for distribution within affected groups and projects

Define, improve, and harmonize methods, processes, and interfaces for specialized engineering activities.

Define the group’s organizational structure and areas of interest – specialized fields – in accordance with industry and company needs.
Requirements

Master’s degree in engineering: aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, systems engineering, or a related technical field.

At least 2+ years of proven experience in leading teams, coordinating specialists, or managing multidisciplinary engineering activities.

Several years of experience in a complex R+D engineering environment (preferably in Safety or Control Engineering).

Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to support both technical experts and team development.

Strong communication and coordination skills, especially across diverse technical disciplines.

Strong understanding of system development lifecycles in complex products or systems.
-
Good understanding of how various specialized engineering disciplines contribute to overall system engineering and project success.

Experience working in project-based organizations with multiple stakeholders and changing priorities.
-
Structured, pragmatic, and solution-oriented mindset.

Fluent English, both written and spoken.
Considered a Plus

Experience in space, aerospace, automotive, medical device or other highly regulated/high-reliability industries.

Experience with verification and validation planning, qualification logic, and test strategy.

Experience with system or product safety processes such as hazard analysis, FMECA, fault tree analysis, or similar methods.

Experience with control system development, simulation, or modelling tools.

Experience with physical modelling, analysis, or performance engineering in complex systems.
-
Familiarity with ECSS or other relevant engineering standards.

Experience in line management or functional leadership in a matrix organization.

Experience building or scaling specialist engineering teams.

Knowledge of engineering the requirements and interfaces to system engineering processes.

Experience working with customers, external partners, and subcontractors in technically demanding projects. Be part of the development of the first-ever Hungarian satellite
