Job Objective:
To define and drive the technical art strategy for the division, bridging the gap between high-level creative vision and technical execution. The Lead Technical Artist is responsible for the strategic oversight and planning of the Technical Art department, the standardisation of in-engine workflows, and the long-term evolution of the studio's technical-artistic capabilities. A core pillar of this role is the empowerment of the wider studio through the creation and delivery of educational programmes, reducing technical bottlenecks by enabling teams to resolve foundational challenges independently.

Main responsibilities and tasks

Technical Art Strategy & Roadmap: In collaboration with the Head of Technical Team, define the long-term roadmap for technical art, ensuring that tool development and workflow evolution align with the studio’s production requirements.

Technical Empowerment & Training: Design, develop, and deliver structured training programmes and workshops for Art and Production departments to build fundamental technical literacy and reduce reliance on the technical teams.

Educational Infrastructure: Create and maintain a library of instructional resources, tutorials, and "best practice" guides to foster a culture of continuous learning and self-sufficiency across the studio.

Strategic Workflow Architecture: Partner with Art and Production stakeholders to proactively identify technical bottlenecks and production risks, designing and deploying scalable, show-specific solutions.

Pipeline Integration & Standardisation: Oversee the transition of successful, show-specific tools into the permanent studio pipeline by coordinating closely with the In-Engine Development team.

Cross-Departmental Liaison: Act as the primary technical art authority for the studio, representing the department's interests in high-level production meetings and ensuring technical feasibility in the creative pipeline.

Resource & Team Leadership: Provide direction and management to the Technical Art team, overseeing task prioritisation, professional development, and the effective allocation of technical resources across various projects.

Technology Evaluation: Lead the evaluation of emerging in-engine technologies and 3D software, determining their impact on the studio’s long-term technical stability and artistic potential.

Compliance: Ensure all team operations, documentation, and individual performance standards comply with the Labour Code and DIGIC’s internal studio regulations.
