DIGIC is an internationally recognized animation studio with more than 20 years of experience creating iconic high-end 3D cinematics and acclaimed streaming content. Having won numerous prestigious awards, we are the creative force behind short films for world-renowned brands such as Call of Duty, Netflix’s Love, Death & Robots, and Amazon’s Secret Level series.
Building on this heritage, we are now expanding our feature animation division (Digic Animation), currently developing high-profile projects such as the animated film series based on
MAGIC: THE GATHERING for Netflix.

Rigging Artist (Feature Animation) – Speculative Application
Responsibilities
The RoleAs a
Mid-level Rigging Artist, you are a vital part of the technical character pipeline. You possess a strong understanding of deformation, mechanical constraints, and animation requirements, allowing you to build dependable, high-performance rigs for secondary characters, creatures, and props. You work semi-autonomously, applying established unit standards while contributing to the constant improvement of our rigging workflows.
Key Responsibilities

Rig Creation: Develop and test animation rigs for a wide range of assets, ensuring they meet the specific deformation and performance needs of the project.

Skinning & Deformation: Execute clean skin-weighting and implement corrective blendshapes to achieve high-quality character silhouettes.

Pipeline Integration: Utilize the studio’s modular rigging systems and Python tools to ensure all assets are correctly published and optimized for animation.

Troubleshooting: Address and fix rig-related bugs and performance issues identified by the Animation department.

Collaboration: Partner with Modelling and CFX artists to ensure that assets are technically sound and prepared for downstream simulation.
Essential Skills

Solid Rigging Foundation: Professional experience in Maya rigging, with a portfolio demonstrating a clear grasp of FK/IK systems, constraints, and deformation.

Technical Scripting: A working knowledge of Python for automating repetitive rigging tasks.

Anatomical Awareness: A good understanding of joint placement and how form should deform during movement.

Workflow Discipline: Experience using production tracking software (Shotgrid) and a commitment to maintaining clean, organized file structures.
